Going Out (2019)
Last night I felt like going out so I mustered up
the strength to walk to the dive bar around the block
asked for a tequila shot and the bartender said
“No you’ve had enough” Which made me laugh
because I hadn’t had any alcohol to drink at all that month
and I had never even seen them before in my entire life
but they could swear it was me who had been at
The bar ordering shots left and right every night for weeks
So I told him to fuck off and he told me to get out
Which is what I had gone there to do in the first place
Just when I stepped out the door it started raining
And my feet were the first to get soaked
I imagined the conversation I would strike up if
I lit a cigarette and the perfect most beautiful girl
I have ever seen came up to me outside the bar
I might say “It’s pretty shit out right now, huh?”
Then sloshed along another block and thought half-heartedly
about grabbing a drink at the hip midtown bar with the
Rounded leather couches neon lights fake ferns and shit
“inside before I realized, “Damn I really have had enough”
